We go out camping with my in-laws quiet frequently and though we bring our own truck we also take turns with them driving their RV to reach our destination so I thought this would be useful for those trips, I had no idea how useful it would be for my everyday use as well so I'll focus on that aspect of it since everyone else has touched on all the great features it offers RVers. My husband and I both have issues with the small screen GPS (ie seeing where we're going, programing etc) not to mention the mounts always falling off the windshield (typically while going 65 on the highway). I was happy to see that the RoadMate had the option to set it for not only a specific size RV but also for a standard SUV or car as well, it is HUGE... and if you mounted it up on the windshield in a standard car or suv I could see getting pulled over, or at the very least blocking far too much of your view, however the mount on this thing is awesome. needs improvement, June 8, 2012 By flyfish59 (georgia) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Magellan RoadMate RV9145-LM - 7-Inch GPS Navigator for RVers (Electronics) did pretty good on first leg of trip but when i wanted to return the same way it routed about sixty miles in the wrong direction and i didn't catch it till i had gone thirty. unit also crashes often and has to reboot which takes awhile. not good when you are driving and just guessing which way to go while waiting for it to come back on. might be a good unit when they get it working right just not there yet. i had to send back to amazon

The Magellan RoadMate RV9145-LM is specifically designed for RVs with its huge screen, extendable windshield mount, and built in Good Sam Guide, but it needs a major speed boost.
Except for it's huge screen the RoadMate looks pretty much like every other navigation system on the market. The front is done in piano black, and the rear silver plastic. The RoadMate is nicely assembled, the plastics are high quality, and it feels sturdy in the hand. There is only one physical control on the RoadMate and that is the power/reset switch on top.
Included with the navigation system are a computer USB cable, a cigarette lighter power cord, and a household outlet power cord. The included windshield mount is nicely designed and extends almost a foot, making it easy to reach the navigation system when it is mounted on the far away windshield of an RV. Still, the mount folds down nicely so you can use it in a car just as well. The only weak point on the mount is the ball... Read more
